Ingredients

  • 1 cup brewed coffee, cooled preferably chilled in advance
  • 1 cup ice cubes adjust for desired thickness
  • 1 tablespoon sugar syrup optional, for sweetness
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract adds depth of flavor (optional)

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. Pour the cooled brewed coffee into your blender until it’s about halfway full.
  2. Add the ice cubes to the blender, filling it up to the top for a frosty texture.
  3. Drizzle in the sugar syrup and add the vanilla extract if you’re using them; this boosts the flavor and sweetness.
  4. Secure the lid on the blender and blend on high until the mixture is smooth, thick, and icy—about 30 to 60 seconds. You should hear it buzzing and see the ice break down finely.
  5. Stop the blender and check the consistency; if it’s too thick, add a splash of additional coffee or milk and blend briefly to loosen it.
  6. Pour the frosty coffee slushie into glasses, watching the vibrant, icy mixture settle into a partly frozen, yet spoonable, texture.
  7. Garnish with a coffee bean or a dusting of cocoa powder if desired, and serve immediately for the best icy chill.

Notes

For best results, chill the brewed coffee beforehand and blend in stages if the mixture is too thick. Adjust the amount of ice for your preferred consistency.
