Ingredients

  • 2 cups Gatorade Any flavor of your choice
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Fresh or bottled
  • a pinch salt Enhances flavor
  • ice cubes as needed Ice cubes Optional, for quick freezing

Equipment

  • Freezer-safe container
  • Fork or spoon
  • Measuring cup
  • Straw and spoon

Method

  1. Pour the Gatorade into a freezer-safe container, filling it about three-quarters full to allow room for expansion.
  2. Add a squeeze of lemon juice and a pinch of salt to the Gatorade, then stir gently to combine.
  3. If your Gatorade isn’t very cold, toss in a handful of ice cubes to speed up the freezing process.
  4. Place the container in the freezer and set a timer for 30 minutes.
  5. After 30 minutes, remove the container and use a fork or spoon to scrape the icy edges toward the center, breaking up large chunks.
  6. Return the container to the freezer and repeat the scraping process every 30 minutes, doing this 3-4 times total.
  7. Once the mixture is firm but scoopable—about 3-4 hours—remove it from the freezer.
  8. Scoop the icy Gatorade into glasses, garnish with fruit slices or mint if desired, and serve with a straw or spoon for a refreshing, crunchy treat.

Notes

Keep an eye on the texture during freezing; scraping regularly ensures a smooth, slushie consistency. Feel free to experiment with different flavors or add fresh herbs for extra flair.
